BATTEN EXTENDER
FAQ
What are BATTEN EXTENDERS?
BATTEN EXTENDERS are a new solution to a tile roofing problem?
What is the problem?
Suspending roof tile over flow areas on flashing.

Notice that with the BATTEN EXTENDER the roof tiles are lifted up and
off of the flashing metal, allowing for an unimpeded flow of water.
also, BATTEN EXTENDERS support each tile evenly and provide a
platform to attach the tiles to, preventing slippage.
What are BATTEN EXTENDERS made of?
BATTEN EXTENDERS are made general purpose ABS plastic.
Are BATTEN EXTENDERS UV stable?
The carbon black in ABS is in and of itself an excellent UV inhibitor.
Additionally, after installation the BATTEN EXTENDERS are entirely
under the tile.
How are BATTEN EXTENDERS attached to the battens?
Most commonly with nails or staples, directly on the end of the
1" X 2" wood batten (see picture on BATTEN EXTENDER page).
Are edge tiles supposed to be attached?
YES - CODES & TILE MANUFACTURERS either specify or recommend that
all edge tile be attached.. some specify dual attachment.
Note: Some installations are done by using an adhesive in the
flashing area and sometimes are even nailed.
How long have BATTEN EXTENDERS been available?
Since 1992 under US Patent#5,197,252.
